How to Care for Your Quartz Countertops

One of the great things about quartz countertops is that they are low maintenance.  When you choose quartz, you don’t have to worry about sealing your counters every few years like you do with natural stone. Quartz is also non-porous, meaning it won’t stain if you spill something on it. However, there are some things you should remember when caring for your quartz countertops.  Here are a few tips to keep them looking great:

  • Never put hot objects directly on your quartz countertops.  Always use a hot pad underneath pots or pans to avoid damage to the surface.
  • Use warm water with a washcloth and dish soap for regular maintenance.
  • For difficult areas, like caked-on food, you can use a gentle cleaner.  Just make sure you avoid using any harsh chemicals.
  • Avoid cleaning tools that may dull your counter’s surface, like steel wool or rough scrubbing pads.

Quartz is an extremely strong stone and has some advantages in its artificial fabrication that are not found in the natural stones.  Bonus: you can now choose from beautiful colors and patterns for your quartz counters, which wasn’t always the case.  For a counter resistant to stains and scratches that is also easy to care for, choose quartz!
